One of my go-to morning cups is a black tea with milk (or cream) and honey. I find that black teas are rich enough to maintain their integrity when creamy milk and sweet honey are added.
In this post, I share 8 black teas, 4 of which are blends, that taste absolutely divine with milk and honey.
French Breakfast: A classic blend that’s robust and malty, perfect for a creamy cup with honey.
I should share my favorite black tea + milk + honey combination: French Breakfast blend called Paris by Harney & Sons. I love the vanilla flavors in this blend and how it pairs with the creaminess of the milk and sweetness of the honey. If I have a black tea, it most likely will be first thing in the morning, and it is even more likely that it is Paris by Harney & Sons.
Earl Grey: This blend features black tea flavored with bergamot orange, which pairs beautifully with milk and honey, adding a citrusy twist.
Assam: Known for its strong, malty flavor, Assam tea can stand up well to milk and honey, making it a rich and satisfying choice.
Darjeeling: Often referred to as the “champagne of teas,” Darjeeling offers a delicate and nuanced flavor that can be enhanced with milk and honey.
Ceylon: This tea is bright and lively, with a citrusy note that can be nicely mellowed by milk and sweetened with honey.
Keemun: A Chinese black tea with a slightly smoky flavor, Keemun pairs well with milk and honey for a unique, complex taste.
Irish Breakfast: Similar to English Breakfast but with a stronger flavor, it’s ideal for those who like a hearty, full-bodied tea with milk and honey.
Chai: Although traditionally spiced, a spiced chai blend with black tea and milk is enhanced with honey, offering a flavorful and aromatic cup.
These blends should give you a range of options to experiment with and find your perfect milk-and-honey tea combination!
